Robert Omwa, HSC

Just finished his MA in International Education and Development with a Distinction at the university of Sussex, United Kingdom. He studied  under the FCDO funded Chevening Scholarship.
Robert is very enthusiastic about curriculum and making classrooms safe for children to learn , advancing retention and transition. His dissertation topic was :  ‘Supporting Kenyan teachers  to use alternative to corporal punishment: A critique of the Positive Discipline program in Kenya.’

He has over 10 years of teaching experience in Primary and Secondary schools. He is also a teacher trainer on issues Child Protection and Non-Violent Discipline. In 2018 President Uhuru Kenyatta awarded him with the Head of state Commendation for the work he had done with Kenyan teachers to ensure that girls access education without fear and schools were less violent.
He is a leader and at Sussex University he showed exemplary skills that even earned him the best Student Representative of the years 2022 Award.

Mr. Omwa is a Board member of  Beacon Teachers Africa (BETA). BETA has a registered membership of over 5000 teachers in Africa  who are teachers of excellence looking out for the well-being of children. He is also the founder of Precious Seed Africa ; a grass root youth led community based organisation that broadens spaces for youth empowerment and Child participation.
